Communication differs in all situations and within different relationships. “Management communications skills facilitate the use of the rational approach and reasoning processes by all involved in the decision. Effective decision is making results from analytical, critical thinking. One skill that can improve your ability to make sound decisions on the job is the ability to correctly apply critical thinking methods to situations that you encounter. Top managers respond to company circumstances with strategies and policies designed to guide the organization through turbulent situations (Baack, 2012).” Therefore, strategies will differ from situation to situation.
For example, if an employee has issues with another employee’s communication skills, as a manager, I might decide to resolve this issue by using inductive reasoning analyzing team responsibility and how each member can effectively improve their communication. “Many times, decision-makers use induction to identify problems that need to be solved. When three or four symptoms can logically be connected with a root cause of the problem, induction has been used (Baack 2012).” In using inductive reasoning, I am able to interpret where the issue of misunderstanding and the gaps of communication may be present and address them accordingly though rephrasing and confirmation. If this same situation were to occur between myself and my manager, I would make a decision on addressing the communication barriers between myself an management by using inductive reasoning with my manager as i would with employees. I would use the same method because it still appropriately addresses the issue at hand though the relationship is difference.
