Apple Company uses mobile technology to develop products such as mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and online music sharing for customers. The Apple Company uses mobile technology in the production of different products, managing communication systems, and tracking supply chain across the globe.
The main type of mobile technology predominant in the company is the mobile phone, which is proactively used in its information and technology department (IT), research and development department (R&D), and supply chain department. The mobile technology is used in these departments to ensure that innovation, efficiency, and predictability in business process management are sustainable (Dediu 2012).
Over the last 20 years, the Apple Company’s mobile technology has experienced changes in line with the developing technology across the PC industry. The company has been the most competent in technology transfer through the continuous use of cross-functional work teams in product design and processing at the Apple Innovation Centre. This platform has encouraged innovation and modification of the iPhone brand to its current iPhone 6 ‘miracle’ (Kane & Rohwedder 2012).
There are no disadvantages of using Apple mobile technology since the results have been positive for the last decade. Apple’s innovation strategy is the current R&D strategy, which is clearly embedded in the budget and product performance. For instance, in the last quarter of the financial year, the company spent 425 million dollars (3%) of its budget on R&D. The R&D strategy is consistent with the company’s mission ad vision of providing quality and innovative products to its customers.
The company has several plans for making changes to its mobile technology in order to remain competitive in the global PC industry. The mix of basic, applied, and engineering research has been appropriate and helped in the creation of unique products such as the current iPhone 6 and integrated iTune products (Johnson, Whittington, & Scholes 2011).
As a result of an integrated R&D, the Apple Company has become the leading Personal Computer (PC) retailer in the global computer arena and offers some of the latest and most advanced personal computers and smartphones. The current IT objectives are entrenched in the company’s capacity building and efficiency objectives within its corporate goal for the next ten years. The budget for IT takes 20% of the company’s budget and has increased Apple’s product quality and production efficiency (Bodily & Allen 2009).
The company has a very advanced system of database management, production mechanization, and communication network. As a result, the managers are able to track all processes in the company and make focus on future market trends. For instance, the changing market trends informed the decision to create the iPhone 6 product.
The automated system has improved efficiency and competitive advantage. This has been possible through the introduction of the unique iPhone brand that has won the heart of customers across the world (Baltzan 2014). Through modification of the iPhone brand within the different product lines, the Apple Company has been declared “the fastest international roll out” (Apple Inc 2012, par. 9).
