PART ONE COMPLETE QUIZ 1-10 see attachment
PART. 2
This week we focused primarily on disorders that occur in childhood and those that occur in old age. Because of the timing of these disorders, they can have profound effects on an individual’s family. One related topic that has been the source of much controversy is how to care for an individual who is aging (particularly when they have added health problems or dementia). Culture can have a profound effect on how we think about caring for aging individuals.
Using the weblink provided below, and other references if you’d like, address the following prompts in your initial post:
- Explain what your culture says about caring for elderly individuals. According to your culture, who is responsible for caring for the elderly and what should this care look like?
- Describe some of the controversies and potential problems and concerns that surround the care of individuals with the disorders of aging we learned about this week.
- Detail how the care of a parent diagnosed with one of the disorders of aging can affect an entire family.
As you write your initial post, you might find the information available at the following weblink helpful. You can also feel free to seek out other resources of your own.

Directions
There is a lot of controversy surrounding the diagnoses of ADHD and autism spectrum disorder. Some argue that ADHD used to be “the catch all” diagnosis of the 1990’s and 2000’s. Today, more and more children are being diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Many believe these disorders have rather vague and broad diagnostic criteria, which could be part of the reason for so many diagnoses.
To begin, make sure to review the information provided in lecture on ADHD and autism spectrum disorder. In your own words, write a reflection in which you address the following:
- Explain your opinion on the diagnostic criteria used for ADHD and the diagnostic criteria used for autism spectrum disorder.
- Do you think the criteria are too broad and/or too vague? Why or why not?
- As you consider your future career, describe why it will be important for you to understand the criteria used to diagnose disorders like ADHD and autism spectrum disorder.
- Finally, indicate how you might use your knowledge of the controversy surrounding disorders like ADHD and autism spectrum disorder in your future career.
