Introduction
1.What controversial topic are you going to explore? Form your topic as a question like the examples in the Portfolio Project directions.
Ans: Failure of Government to control the COVID-19 pandemic.
2.How are you answering this question? As in, what side you will be taking in your argument?
Ans: I will be arguing that Government has failed to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Body
3.Look at the reasons why you believe this side is right:
a.List your first reason and give an example of evidence that can back up this reason:
Ans: Failure of timely lockdown and sealing the national borders to avoid international migration.
b.List your second reason and give an example of evidence that can back up this reason:
Ans: Lack of availability of medical facilities. This can be seen from the huge number of deaths due to the COVID-19 virus.
c.List your third reason and give an example of evidence that can back up this reason:
Ans: Government has failed to ensure the availability of basic needs to the poor section of society, which has severely impacted their survival in this crisis time.
4.Look at sources you may be able to use for each of your chosen reasons:
a.For your first reason, do you think you will be able to find credible and scholarly resources? What challenges may come up when researching this reason?
Ans: Data availability will be the challenge. Only news-based resources are available. Few Government guidelines may help to justify the data.
b.For your second reason, do you think you will be able to find credible and scholarly resources? What challenges may come up when researching this reason?
Ans: Data availability will be the challenge. Only news-based resources are available. Few Government guidelines may help to justify the data.
c.For your third reason, do you think you will be able to find credible and scholarly resources? What challenges may come up when researching this reason??

Counterarguments
5.What is a counterargument someone could have about your topic – what is a reason they may not agree with your side?
Ans: The counter argument may be that COVID-19 is a natural disaster and was unprecedented. As no medical treatment was available, the containment has become difficult for governments. Still, Government has initiated necessary steps to control the spread and supported citizens with various financial help with government funds
6.How will you address or dispute this counterargument?
Ans: Government has taken necessary steps, but that will not undo the damage already done, which could have been minimized if proactive steps had been initiated. Many have lost theirlives due to hunger and failure to have access to the essential services due to lockdown, as substitute service lines were not developed by Government.
