The Novel Dr. Jekyll and Hyde

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a mysterious stow and captivates to audiences on drama aspects alone. I think that Stevenson wrote the story to show the dual nature of man and of society in general. Although often Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde seems to be a light-hearted tale of mystery and intrigue, Stevenson makes great steps to show that Mr. Hyde is very deadly. There is certainly nothing comical about the trampling of the little girl on the street corner or when the ultimate death of Jekyll and Hyde arises when he runs out of the solution which changes his form making him unable to return to the body of Jekyll.

Mr. Hyde, being very suicidal at this time. gradually eats away at his own body in which the evil of Hyde destroys itself in a mangled mess of blood and guts. At first evil seems fun. Dr. Jekyll admits this to Utterson in his letter, saying, “It seemed natural and human. In my eyes it bore a livelier image of the spirit, it seemed more express and single, than the imperfect and divrded countenance I had been hitherto accustomed to call mine.” He asserts, “…all human berngs…are commingled out of good and eViI.” A.K.A. he goes on saying that everyone are composites of both good and evrl.

Amazingly. this story doesn’t have a happy ending. But then again how could it? The evil dominance over Dr. Jekyll eventually takes its toll. Jekyll is able to admit that after a few months of experimenting with Hyde. eventually the little man’s demands became increasingly extreme. seeking more power, Jekyll admits, “I was slowly losing hold of my original and better self, and becoming slowly incorporated with my second and worse.” The ending, ummm… ends With Hyde causing Jekyll to commit suicide. The end shows me, like many other things, that when it comes to man vs. man destruction wrll almost always be an outcome.

Immense Success and Popularity of Gojira

Allison summarizes the immense success and popularity of Gojiru in terms of the Japanese people’s reliving of the bombings barely a decade before the film’s creation. In other words. Gojira is a representation of the return of a collective suppressed rage, reexperienced in a movie theater. But rather than let that rage become an embodiment, Japan rebuilt itself, especially through means of computer technology, particularly robotics. In this case, Japanese people’s rage only shaped their identity in the sense that it propelled them into an era of reconstruction and regrowth, but not growth into that rage until it becomes unmalleable hatred. A victim can either become the trauma or is driven by the trauma. Japan seems to have allowed the latter to happen, propelling itself into renowned success through its post-war reconstruction.

The creation of Gojira also marked a new beginning for Japan‘s next chapter. Because, as Allison points out, Gojira is such a fascinating creature of mythic, this inspired the subsequent creations of other fantastical characters and creatures to be made into manga and toys (48). Astro Boy could be interpreted as an icon of Japan’s rebuilding. a foil to Gojira as a representation. Even if the toys, manga, and anime are aimed to be entertainment, political and social commentary can still be inserted. Allison remarks on Astro Boy’s moments of having such commentary in a television episode: “[‘Deadly Flies’] conveys a message about the dangers of atomic energy and the human abuse of robots.” (64) Thus, even if Japan’s rage and pain is no longer as raw as when Gojira first came out. the memory of the trauma still occasionally echoes throughout various media.

Miracles in a Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett

A Little Princess is a touching novel written by Frances Hodgson Burnettiaa famous novelist and dramatist. It obviously contains lots of fancied plots, but the pans it talks about creating miracles can really reach the bottom of my heart. The book can bring me into a world that is more than reality while reading it. The extraordinary story makes me ponder a lot and gives me a deep impression that every girl can be a princess. In my opinion, it is impossible for every rich girl to act like a well-behaved princess, but Sara, the hero of the novel, did itl She was an imaginative little girl who had such an intelligent small face and such perfect manners. Sara was a very nice girl who had a gentle, appreciative ways of saying, such as 1°lf you please: (“Thank youi: which was very charming.

So, not only her teachers and classmates liked her, but also her servants liked her. There was a time when Sara became a poor and pitiful servant insulted by the snobbish headmaster of the school. In spite of this, she had never complained to anyone about the horrible suffering she had endured, Sara was confident, brave, optimistic and kindhearted just like before and she had never given up her enthusiasm of life. No matter when, Sara acted like a princess, and on account of this, she had accomplished a GREat deal of miracles over and over again.

After reading this outstanding book, I was shocked by Sara, a little girl who suffered such unimaginable pain and tortures, but still had an oppoSite attitude towards life. What impresses me most is that Sara put on her act of being a princess when she wore thin bottom shoes, wading in the street of London, From my point of view, her spirit of being so strong-minded when she was in hard times is worth admiring. Truly, every girl is a princess coming into common life. the i°princessii I mean is not a princess IiVing in the palace and being regarded as the apple of eveiyonefs eye. As the matter of fact, the i“princessi: is at heart.

I am in the belief that every ordinary girl in the world can be a princess. The way for a girl to be a princess is quite simple. Just suppose! You can suppose yourself to be a princess, and go about your business confidently without caring how the others would treat you. If you want to have more resemblance to a princess, be more kind and try your best to help the people in need. The most important thing you are supposed to do is that to feel like a real princess at any occasion, particularly when you are involved With enormous melancholy, Do not feel the conditions you faced are extremely wretched and attempt to get rid of the feeling of hopelessness and uneasiness. The less you look like a princess, the more you need to feel like a princess at heart.

How Reading the Novel The Alchemist Has Changed My Life

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho a personal legend serves a big part of life of a person which someone can live a pleasing live. Like the boy, Santiago, had trouble in recurring his dream. Also over his journey he found obstacle that would be impossible to realize his dreams or get to his real personal legend, but there was always a new path in his journey until he realized his dreams. So when I read until now “The Alchemist” makes me think deeply about fighting for my dreams no matter how many obstacles there is and work hard to get to my personal legend. first of all, in this book make me think of what a hard time this boy had because I would have the same experiments as the character, Santiago, when he left his family to go and realize his dream in being a shepherd to travel and see the world, he pass to really hard time to find his real personal legend and he struggle in his journey for the reason that he wanted to find his personal legend.

This is because I have to follow my dreams and get out and don’t think of failure and take the lead to success. Is hard to get out and find my personal legend because I have leave my family and they would sad about, but I have to think that there is a good side of everything that they would be happy for me and I would find my path to where the creator, the god of heaven, want me to be. The life of this boy is a good example for me because I have to take the first step to go to the world like Santiago did, he asks for the blessing of his father and his father just give him an advice to stay and be priest, but Santiago didn’t to, he insisted, at end he said nothing and gave money to the boy and let him go. This part of the book make me think in living home and finally been in the real world and don’t fear about the world. I have to go on and follow my dreams to the path that will take me to hard place and struggle a lot to find my personal legend.

I thought a lot in the way that life is hard and is hard to find my reality. I have to look the reality of a hard life. Secondly, the boy went to the real world and meet new people that were good or bad. This is very hard to be all alone in world because we don’t know what kind of people we would meet over the time in our journey. They could be good like the old kind, give him advice that the only obligation in life is to realizing his dream. That kind of people are good in my live because I would have hope to go on and follow my dreams and I would be stronger to go the world in the place of sadness as we go on deep to it. I got convince that there would be people that will help me to get to my personal legend and other would get me far from it. I think like this because I will get convince that this person that I trusted was not the person I thought he or she was. Santiago had an experiments about a person that he thought would help him to get to the pyramid and get to his personal legend, but that friend he thought he was stole his money and ran away and said noting, he was disappointed of that boy was going to help him. I now think more deeply about people that I thought were my friend and that will betray me in my life, event family. In addition, this kind people are the people kind of people that would take me far from my dreams, but I think that there will be new friends that I will meet in the future and don’t worrier about it and think next time that I can’t thrust all the people in this world.

Thirdly, another lesson that changes my life is I will fear the world because there is a lot of obstacle in life, but I have to enter the world and realize my dream. Santiago experiences several form of fear throughout his journey; such as a childhood fear of having the gypsy woman interpret his dream the gypsy, by joining the desert caravan, and the physical fear of dying in the battle at Al-Fayoum. The old kind told him that the universe helped those who pursuit their dreams. He never gives up because of his fear; he always goes on to get to his personal legend. I want be like this because I want to be happy in life and said to myself later in the future that I did all I dream. There were some people in the book that didn’t realize their dreams because they fear of something in their life. For example, fear dominates “The Alchemist’s weakest characters”, the Chrystal merchant fear in someone rules his life. Although he wanted to go to Mecca required of every Muslim, he fears that if he went to where he dreams, then after there was nothing else to live for. As a result, this entire people were deeply unhappy because fear is one of the obstacles to be happy in their life. This teaches me a lot to know that I have to be like Santiago not like this people. I have look out for all of my fear and destroy them in my thoughts and forget about them.

An Account of How Macbeth’s Personal Ambition Consumed Him

I come to bury Macbeth. and divulge his nefarious and meticulous conspiracy, not to praise him. I am a loyal servant of the rightful Macbeth was a former battle-hardened soldier, Who was loved and respected by our beloved king Duncan. Macbeth was acknowledged for his glorious efforts on the battlefield where he fought gallantly for God. King and County, and received many honorable titles like brave Macbeth, valiant cousin, and worthy gentleman. For all his gallantry, thane of Cawdor was the ominous Macbeth foremost title, Which previously accompanied the MacDonald, oh! the irony of it. It was heard that the treachery began when Macbeth was returning from the battlefield to Duncan’s camp, and he encountered the mysterious and enigmatic Witches.

The witches and their catalytic prophecy were the first major Influence on Macbeth’s actions Macbeth, then, by Thane of Glamis. was content with his position, until the three Witches foretold him, “hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor, thou shalt be King hereafter.” After hearing this, Macbeth and Banquo, his loyal friend. discovered that King Duncan had named Macbeth “Thane of Cawdor.” The Witches also advised them that Banquo’s son would be King one day. They contemplate how the rest of the prophecy will come true. It is then that Macbeth realizes that for him to in fact become King he Will have to defeat King Duncan and the recently named heir to the throne, Malcolm, the Kings son, and also prevent Banqous son from gaining access to the throne.

This was in the back of Macbeth’s mind from the very beginning. The prophecy of the three Witches only fired his imagination to confirm the terrible deeds he was already planning, the death of King Duncan, and to tear the throne from his dying hands. As a reward for his Patriotism it was announced that a celebration should be held in Macbeth’s new lair. Dunsinane. and the King was to attend blissfully unaware that anything might be amiss. Witnesses put forward that when Macbeth arrived back at his castle he was overheard conspiring with Lady Macbeth regarding King Duncan’s murder. In order to commit a murder of such a beloved king Macbeth had to meticulously plan step by step on how he would carry out this vicious deed. At every opportunity, Macbeth conspired with his Wife Lady Macbeth on how to commit and succeed.

With such a murder. Lady Macbeth desperately Wished her Macbeth to be King and she calls upon the aid of sprits to help her in her quest for the throne. Lady Macbeth requests that the, “sprits that tend on mortal thoughts,” unsex her, and fill her with the “direst cruelty”. The supernatural World would aid her in the hardening of her heart and make it possible for her to carry out her malicious plan. Lady Macbeth wishes to throw out her morality for the sake of gaining a title. With the help of spirits, she wants to make herself able to commit a heinous act of murder to make her dreams of the royal life come true, without having reservations or remorse.

Lady Macbeth could not complete the task herself and most likely urged Macbeth to act on his desires or he Will think of himself as a coward therefore pressuring and exploiting his manhood. With his Wifes caioling, and the three Witches foretelling of his future, the tyrant, Macbeth, would stop at nothing to gain posmon as King of Scotland. Duncan the former king of Scotland lay peacefully in his humble chambers. I contend that the servants guarding the kings bedroom were drugged in order to gain a silent entry. Macbeth then quietly crept towards the king lying asleep and with murder weapon in hand and proceeded to ruthlessly butcher the greatest king ever to have commanded Scotland. Awell beloved and honored king noW brutally dead.

That night was as if Scotland’s heart had been unforgivingly ripped from it. Acting as his accomplice, Lady Macbeth seeing Macbeth bearing the bloodied daggers of the murder proceeded to place the daggers back at the scene of the crime and smeared the thickened blood of king Duncan onto the innocent servants. However, Macbeth did not just stop at the death of the king. His own personal ambition consumed him, and he went on a bloody rampage and murdered anyone who stood in his way, such as the two innocent servants, whom he drugged in order to frame and in addition conceal the sinister deed that he committed. The murder aroused suspicion in some of the public, especially in the eyes of Banquo.

Banquo knew that Macbeth had murdered the three, and Macbeth sensed this and ruthlessly ordered Banquos death at the hands of two assassins, who he manipulated into believing that it was Banquo’s fault that they are poor by telling them, ‘that it was he In times past, that held you so under fortune.’ Macbeths personal ambition consumed him as he then capriciously planned the execution of Mac Duff’s entire family to thwart any potential heirs claiming the throne. Innocent women and children were massacred during their sleep while their father, Mac Duff was away planning a resistance against Macbeth. Macbeth turned Scotland into a reflection of his own mind he has turned Scotland into hell and was running it in tyranny his dictatorship over the country had to be eliminated.

Love and Death in the Lives of Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters in The Fault in Our Stars, a Novel by John Green

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is a wonderful novel about love and death It’s mostly about death and sadness, It is a simple story about Haze] Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters with the occasional appearance of their friend lsaact Hazel is a young girl who has been struggling with lung cancer since she was twelve, She needs oxygen tubes in her nose to even breathe anymore. She was taken out of school when she was diagnosed so the only social contact she really gets is in her support group One night, her cancerous friend Isaac brings a friend to the support group, His friend, Augustus, is a cancer survivor, losing his leg in the battle. Isaac needed extra support from Augustus that night as he explained to the group that he would be losing his only functional eye to finally be rid of cancer.

That same night, his girlfriend breaks up with him, So, Isaac loses his eye and is left blind and depressingly single, During this whole time, Augustus and Hazel start to bond over their pitiful friend and a book. Imperial Infliction is a book about a girl with cancer. The book ends in midsentence, supposedly because the main character dies. It had been Hazel’s favorite book for as long as she could remember. She recommends it to Augustus and then it becomes his favorite book. They end up rereading it over and over again, and every time they are disappointed by the lack of an ending, Augustus does some research and gets a hold of the author living in Amsterdam.  He then surprises Hazel with a trip down to meet Peter Van Houten, the author. With some arguing with her doctors and parents they are set to go Hazel, Augustus, and Hazel’s mother all head to Amsterdam. It seems like the most magical trip in the world for a while.

Then they meet Peter Van Houten who is actually a raving drunk, He insults the two teens and sends them on their way. We learn later that Van Houten’s book was actually about his daughter who died at eight years old Determined not to have let the lunatic ruin their trip, Hazel and Augustus go to see some Anne Frank memorial, where Hazel finally admits that she is in love with him. It seems like a happy ending until Augustus tells her that his cancer is back. He dies a couple weeks later after she watches him deteriorate. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is really a very deep book and isn’t so hopelessly depressing as it sounds. It leaves many speechless like you could never really say anything to do the meaning of the book any justice. At any rate, it is a good book and I would recommend it to anyone who feels like being depressed and thinking about the inevitable.
