Grantham University Terrorism and Security Strategies Questions and Scenarios
I’m working on a Political Science question and need guidance to help me study.
1. Imagine
you are a campaign manager for a presidential candidate and have been
tasked with authoring your candidate’s policy and position on addressing
the threat of terrorism.
In “U.S. Counter-terrorism Options: A Taxonomy,”, Byman (2007) outlines seven strategies for U.S. foreign
policy.
Select one strategy that will be your candidate’s central strategy for combatting terror.
Describe
your selection and then describe why you have made that selection based
on specific knowledge that you have gained in this course.
Address
counterarguments to that position so that your candidate will be able
to address any charges from opposition candidates or groups. In other
words, what are the weaknesses of your position and how would a
political opponent criticize your position? What will your responses to
these criticism be?
2. Research
the positions on terrorism taken by the Republican Party and the
Democratic Party in their party platforms. Based on their platform,
summarize the Republican Party’s approach to terrorism? Based on their
platform, summarize the Democratic Party’s approach to terrorism? How
do the positions of each party relate to theoretical knowledge in this
course? Are there any weaknesses of each position? How might the
platform positions of each be strengthened? Give specifics details.
Support your responses by incorporating specific ideas from this course.

3. Read the article, “Why Democracies Make Superior Counterterrorist,” by Max Abrams. What is Abram’s argument? Do you find Abram’s argument compelling? Why orwhy not? Describe how proponents of liberal IR theory would respond to Abram’s argument. Describe how proponents of realist IR theory would respond to Abram’s argument
