I’m stuck on a Political Science question and need an explanation.
Overview
One of the distinguishing features of the American political party system is that throughout the nation’s history, it has only had two major political parties. Numerous other parties exist, though a variety of factors make it difficult for them to gain widespread support. Yet many Americans feel disillusioned with the two-party system and find that their own views align more closely with a third party. This assignment affords you the opportunity to create a third party that you believe could gain traction in American politics.
This assignment calls upon you to investigate what the two major political parties have to say about a political issue that is important to you as well as to reflect on how the parties’ positions on that issue have evolved over recent election cycles.
To begin, you will want to think about the two major parties and some of the better known third parties. What issue (or group of issues) do you think the existing parties have not adequately addressed? This question is an important one because it will help to guide you as you create a third party of your own.

Assignment
After reading about the existing major and third parties, please write a 4-6 page paper that addresses the following matters (1) Describe the basic views and vision of your political party. At the broadest level, what are its goals? What positions would this party take on major political issues? (2) Given your party’s vision and issue positions, what impact do you think your party would have on the overall political process? Why?

Please use standard 1” margins with 12-point font. You may (but are not required to) consult outside sources. Your paper must include in-text citations along with a works cited page for ALL cited sources, whether they are those appearing above or other sources that you might consult. To this end, you are free to use the established citation style with which you are most comfortable, e.g. MLA, etc.
Your papers should be double-spaced. The paper will be due on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 11:59pm. Papers are accepted up to three days late, though with a 10 percent deduction per day. After three days, any student who signed up for this assignment but did not submit his/her essay will receive a 0.
