Most Influential Persons in History

Table of contents

It is a ranking of the 100 people who, according to Hart, most influenced human history. [2] The first person on Hart’s list is the Prophet of Islam Muhammad. [3] Hart asserted that Muhammad was “supremely successful” in both the religious and secular realms. He also believed that Muhammad’s role in the development of Islam was far more influential than Jesus’ collaboration in the development of Christianity. He attributes the development of Christianity to St. Paul, who played a pivotal role in its dissemination.

The 1992 revisions included the demotion of figures associated with Communism, such as Vladimir Lenin and Mao Zedong, and the introduction of Mikhail Gorbachev. Hart took sides in the Shakespearean authorship issue and substituted Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford for William Shakespeare. Hart also substituted Niels Bohr and Henri Becquerel with Ernest Rutherford, thus correcting an error in the first edition. Henry Ford was also promoted from the “Honorary Mentions” list, replacing Pablo Picasso. Finally, some of the rankings were re-ordered, although no one listed in the top ten changed position.

Hart wrote another book in 1999, entitled A View from the Year 3000,[4] voiced in the perspective of a person from that future year and ranking the most influential people in history. Roughly half of those entries are fictional people from 2000–3000, but the remainder are actual people. These were taken mostly from the 1992 edition, with some re-ranking of order. Three Different Religious Views on Serving the Homeless

Devin Felder Miss Coles World Religion 8 December 2011 Three Different Religious Views on Serving the Homeless People who practice Buddhism believe that giving is a major foundation of their lifestyle. They believe that being generous is very important and to be taken seriously. “Compassion and love are not mere luxuries.? As the source both of inner and external peace,? they are fundamental to the continued survival of our species” (His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama). They see serving others as a vow or commitment they have made with their faith.

They view this subject as if you can see yourself in others, who is there for you to hate? Buddhist monks “beg” for a living to make themselves dependent upon the compassion of others. “If you do not tend to one another, then who is there to tend you? Whoever would tend me, he should tend the sick” (Vinaya, Mahavagga 8. 26. 3). They believe that you harm no one, help anyone you can. “Just as a mother would protect her only child at the risk of her own life, even so, cultivate a boundless heart towards all beings.

Let your thoughts of boundless love pervade the whole world” (Sutta Nipata 149-150). They believe in considering others as yourself. Jewish law mandates helping the poor and that specifically includes housing. Jews feel that the word “charity” implies that your heart motivates you to go beyond the call of duty. They also feel that the word “tzedakah,” however, literally means righteousness — doing the right thing, and a “tzaddik,” likewise, is a righteous person, someone who fulfills all his obligations, whether in the mood or not.

Helping the less fortunate is very important to them and helps them to feel complete. “Abraham gave Malki- Tzedek one-tenth of all his possessions” (Genesis 14:20). Jews believe that it is their duty to help others in need. “Jacob vowed to give one-tenth of all his future acquisitions to the Almighty” (Genesis 29:22). They believe that rightfully that God commands them to help the poor. It is their right. If there is a needy person among you…you must open your hand and lend him sufficient resources for whatever he needs.

For the poor will never disappear from the earth, which is why I command you: open your hand to the poor and needy kinsman in your land” (Deuteronomy 15:7-8, 11). They have a sheer compassion for helping those in need. Muslims believe that it is part of our human nature to help, support, and be generous towards those who cannot cover their own needs. Which is how I feel about the subject. “He who sleeps on a full stomach whilst his neighbour goes hungry is not one of us” (Prophet Muhammad). They try not to think about the homeless as being any lesser than them, they that they are people too who may have just lost their way. He (Allah) has set up the balance (of justice), in order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance” (The Qur’an 55: 7-9). They believe that Allah is testing their love for him when they encounter the unfortunate. They think that if you are patient, caring and forgiving towards others, no matter what you’ve done, Allah will have mercy on you. “Whoever relieves his brother of a trial or a difficulty in this life, God will relieve him of a trial in the next life” (Prophet Muhammad).

They feel that in order for them to move on into the next life they must keep Allah happy by helping out others. They believe that one wants for his brother what he wants for himself. Homelessness and poverty and how we handle is a very touchy subject all around the world. All of these faiths all basically have the same concept on homelessness. They all feel that it is their purpose on Earth to help others who cannot sometimes help themselves. We al want the satisfaction of knowing that we helped a person in need.

Explorations of Astrology

One of astrology’s first graces on human minds was with the Babylonians and Ancient Egyptians, and then spread throughout the Arab world. Since, there has been explorations of astrology through manuscripts and celestial objects made by Arab craftsmen. Many islamic ornamental motifs and architecture references astrological findings. The Islamic calendar says that the day begins at sunset and the five prayers start from that time. Adjusting times for prayer grew out of observing the heavens, a practice known since the ancient Egyptians and Babylonians.

The Arabs, for centuries, studied the sky and examined the groups of stars and phases of the moon on their long desert travels. This education of space was adapted and developed to conform to the practice of Islam. During the medieval period of the Islamic world, the science of astrology as a branch from astronomy was translated by the Greeks into Arabic, along with Sasanian, Indian and ancient Egyptian influences, allowing more scientific and mathematical development by mathematicians and scientists of the Arab world. The subject came to be a very popular one, as it was taken interest in by scholars such as Abu Ma’shar al-Balkhi, al-Biruni, and Nasir al-Din al-Tusi. There is evidence of this topic being widespread throughout the Islamic world, such as manuscripts and astrological records found in al-Fustat in Egypt.

Since there has proven to be much scientific evidence and involvement in the study of the stars and planets, how did this outbreak of information in the Islamic world affect Islamic Art? And why was it so significant? There is much architecture, objects and textiles from the Islamic World that express the significance of this topic, such as Qusayr ‘Amra (figure 1) in Jordan, built by Umayyad caliph Walid II in the early 8th century, which features a frescoed caldarium ceiling depicting the twelve Zodiac constellations.

The exterior of the construction is very minimal; the only ornamentation being small domes and triple arches. Otherwise, the ornamentation becomes servant to the architecture. The techniques that were contributed into constructing Qusayr ‘Amra references the Roman and Byzantine techniques: predominately limestone and terracotta brick, along with other types of stones. The frescoed ceilings in the caldarium, or the hot plunge bath, is said to be the earliest depiction of the stars painted on a domed surface. It features 35 recognizable constellations along with, as mentioned previously, twelve zodiacs.

There has been reported to be one mistake: the order of the stars in the counterclockwise direction, which tells that it is possible that the fresco was copied from a flat surface. This fresco, however, is not the only one in Qusayr ‘Amra: there were many brilliant murals in several of the other chambers that suggest that the caliphs of this “pleasure palace” lived a luxurious lifestyle. This luxury tells of an involvement in The use of imagery in relation to astrology began in the twelfth century, and eventually taken in for its visual decorative quality, by the Ghaznavids and the Seljuqs among others, and they adopted it with their own meanings and influences.

The gilded and over glazed bowl (figure 2) depicts figures very close to those of the Kashan. There is Kufic inscriptions around the rim of the bowl, and the focal point is the sun-shaped face in the center, with a classical depiction of the six planets surrounding it. There are images of figures sitting on thrones, riding on horseback, and playing instruments composed in a radial composition, following the form of the object.

The only two seated figures on thrones sit across from each other on the band, with the other figures surrounding it. This motif combines two different motifs that are common in Islamic art together: the image of figures performing activities or in a scene depicted centrally to the object, as can be seen in the Stain- and overglaze-painted bowl (Ettinghausen, Grabar, Jenkins-Madina, 175), for example, and images of a single figure repeated to create a visual pattern, as demonstrated in the outer rim of Glazed and lustre-painted composite-bodied bowl (Ettinghausen, Grabar, Jenkins-Madina, 174). This royal bowl is very similar to the Stain- and overglaze-painted beaker (Ettinghausen, Grabar, Jenkins-Madina, 176) in the way that it has different tiers showing different figures in action repeated across the band of the beaker. The copper-alloy mirror (figure 3) is another royal artifact that utilizes the zodiacs as symbols of power made for Artuqid ruler Artuq Shah. The heavy-relief bird in the center of the mirror

The Last Holy Book

Table of contents

Quran is the last Holy book of Allah revealed upon His last Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Surah Al-Fatiha means “The Opening” as it is the first chapter of Holy Quran. It contains seven verses which are a prayer for the guidance, lordship and mercy of Allah. The meaning of the entire Quran is summarized in this Surah. It has its different names indicating it as a special blessing of Allah. Surah Al-Fatiha is one those chapters of Quran which holds great importance as Allah (SWT) said in the words given below:”And, Indeed, We have bestowed upon thee seven of the often repeated (verses), and this sublime Quran.”Surah Al-Fatiha is very important as one has to start with it when he begins his prayer.

Reciting Surah Al-Fatiha five times a day shows the nature of its greatness as a chapter as well as a Dua so that we can be benefitted. In any situation a person may be, be it a difficulty, an illness or a state of suffering or any other problems a person may face in his life Surah al-Fatiha is the cure of all the sufferings. This Surah is a prayer to your Lord for seeking guidance and mercy so that He showers His blessings upon us.Virtues of Surah Al-FatihaThere are many virtues of Surah Al-Fatiha.

Starting with the first virtue, it is the greatest chapter in the Quran. It mainly covers the topics discussed in Quran. Another virtue is that as it is recited five times a day during prayers so it is a pillar of prayer. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Whoever does not recite Surah Al-Fatiha in his prayer, his prayer is invalid.”This Surah is contains the cure for the diseases as a companion once recited Surah Al-Fatiha to a person who got bit by a Scorpio and he was cured.

It is not just a cure for diseases but it is also a cure for the heart from the evil. It is a light to direct us towards the righteous path. As it has so many virtues it is known as the Mother of Quran. Tafseer of Surah Al-Fatiha. In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, and the Most Merciful”In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, and the Most Merciful” is the first ayah of this Surah.

This is also known as Bismillah which is good to recite before doing anything so that we are showered with the blessings of Allah Almighty. The letter BaaThe letter Baa can have three different meanings. First is with/ in the name of Allah. The second is seeking help of the name of Allah and the last seeking blessings with the name of Allah.Al-Rehman and Al-Raheem Al-Rehman and Al-Raheem are the names of Allah which mean mercy.

They are derived from the words raa, haa, meem and their meaning is mercy. Whether someone is a Muslim or a non-Muslim, good or bad he is always bestowed with Allah’s mercy. Not only humans but animals and every creature in this universe have His mercy. “My mercy encompasses all.”The difference between both of them is that Al-Rehman shows the vastness of mercy of Allah and Al-Rehman refers to the Allah’s (SWT) mercy which is specific for the believers.

All praise to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds All praise to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds is the second ayah. Many scholars consider that there is not any difference between hamd and shukar. Hamd means praise which is done in love for someone but shukr is different. Shukr is thanking someone in return of something.

The Meaning of Rabb

The word Rabb usually refers to Lord but it also means sustainer, master, nourisher and cherisher. Rabb usually shows the mastery and someone who has control over everything.

The Meaning of Aalameen

The Arabic word Aalameen comes from the root word ‘Ayn-Lam-mim’ which means to know, be aware, knowledge, science or by means of which something can be known. It comes from the word Alam and carries the significance of the meaning world or universe.

The Beneficent, the Most Merciful

This is the third ayah of Surah Al-Fatiha. The meaning of these words are already given before but the reason to repeat it again is that Allah (SWT) is giving emphasis on the fact that He is the only Lord who is forgiving and merciful.

The Only Owner of the Day of the Recompense

The fourth ayah is: “The Only Owner of the Day of the Recompense”. God is the Lord of the Day when all generations of mankind gather together on order to render an account of their conduct, and when each person will be finally rewarded or punished for his deeds.

The description of God as Lord of the Day of Judgment following the mention of his benevolence and compassion indicates that we ought to remember another aspect of God as well-namely, that He will judge us all, that He is so absolutely powerful, that on the Day of Judgment no one will have the power either to resist the enforcement of punishments that He decrees or to prevent anyone from receiving the rewards that He decides to confer. Hence, we ought not only to love Him for nourishing and sustaining us and for His compassion and mercy towards us, but should also hold Him in awe because of His justice, and should not forget that our ultimate happiness or misery rests completely with Him.

You (alone) we worship and you (alone) we ask for help The fifth ayah is: You (alone) we worship and you (alone) we ask for help. In this ayah it is being addressed that we worship Allah. The concept of worship is often misunderstood by people that it is only about prayers, fasting, and charity etc. Basically worship is everything one says or does for the pleasure of Allah. In other words worship is to obey. The ayah affirms the Lordship of Allah and affirms that worship is due to Him.6. Guide us on the straight pathThe sixth ayah is: Guide us on the straight path. This ayah is a Dua which make to Allah asking Him to guide us on the straight path.

We humans get so much involved in the daily affairs of our life and living with different people who may get us involved in bad deeds. Thus we ask for guidance from Allah so that He helps us stay away from the bad deeds and we follow the right path, the one He wants us to follow which is Siraat-e-Mustaqeem. Siraat means path which should reach its goal and should be the shortest route to get there. Mustaqeem means straight, correct etc. thus Siraat-e-Mustaqeem is the straight path or in other words the right path.

The path of those you have blessed, not of those with anger on them, nor of those who are astrayAllah (SWT) has explained the above ayah in another ayah:”Whosoever obeys Allah and the Messenger, they are with those whom Allah has favored, and the Prophets, the sincere, the martyrs and the righteous, and these are the best company. ” The people who have who have anger on them and who are astray are like Jews and Christians and are not favored and blessed by Allah the way the righteous people are. c)Impact of Surah Al-Fatiha on the life of a Muslim as servant of AllahSurah A-Fatiha has a great impact on the hearts of a Muslim as we recite it five times a day in our Namaz or Salah.

And to start our Duas we need to recite it first. This is because of the nature of its greatness as a Dua and as a chapter of Holy Quran. Whenever a person is suffering from any difficulty or problem he needs to recite Surah Al-Fatiha. This Surah contains guidance and cure. Whoever reads Surah Al-Fatiha with belief he will definitely find guidance. Surah al-Fatiha is a cure for physical and also spiritual ailments. Without this Surah, even the daily prayers are incomplete. It is indeed a great treasure that has been given to us by Allah (SWT) through the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

As a servant of Allah this Surah guides us towards the right path and good deeds. It creates a sense of gratitude among us as we realize that the hardships were actually the tests which were supposed to bring us closer to Allah (SWT). This makes us praise and thank Allah for all his blessings. This Surah makes us realize that as a servant we have to worship Allah only and ask Him for help so that he guides us on the right path and we are blessed by Him on the Day of Judgment.

Sura light

Light Sura The Sura I have chosen to analyse for my assignment is the ‘Light Sura’. The reason I chose this Sura is that it deals with many social issues that are still very evident in Islamic life today. It gives a very detailed view of what God expected of its followers throughout the Sura and what punishment would be handed to them if they did something unwilling to Gods orders. Throughout the Sura a strong message is sent to the believers of Islam. A woman is used as an example of someone who has sinned n a terrible and unlawful way and this is described throughout the text.

In my analysis of the Sura I am going to use key verses that give a clear indication of what the passage is about and what clear messages is sent down from god. This is a medinan Sura that relates to the social values in the Islamic world. One of the main themes of this Sura is evolved around many regulations and laws of the Muslim community such as, marriage, obedience, modesty and the main on which is highlighted throughout this passage adultery. Muhammad’s wife Aisha was falsely ccused of adultery which was associated as a huge crime in the Islamic world.

Punishment was very harsh on anyone found guilty of these crimes, however these strict ways also sent a message to the Islamic community that believers should never step out of line. This is clearly highlighted in verse 24:2, “The adulterer and the adulteress scourge ye each one of them (with) a hundred stripes. And let not pity for the twain withhold you from obedience to Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of believers witness their punishmentl”.

I think this punishment uggests that everyone is equal in the eyes of Allah and although Aisha is an honourable woman and Muhammad’s wife, she is still punished the same. It is important in the eyes of Allah and the prophets that women are honourable and they are making an example of it in this Sura. It’s very clear that this Sura focuses on the social values in the community and another example of this is shown in verse 24:32, “Marry off the single among you and those of your male and female slaves who are (fit for marriage). If they are poor god, God will provide for them from his bounty:

Gods bounty is infinite and he is all knowing2″. It is Muhammad’s Job to preach these messages to the Islamic community in the hope that followers will listen to Gods message. Through that verse the message is clear that god wants men and woman to marry, but through marriage comes stability and maturity. It is evident that he wants people to marry so they aren’t idle all the time and so they won’t cause trouble in the community. Simarily in verse 24:33, “those who are unable to marry should keep chaste until God gives them enough out of his bounty.

If any of your slaves wish to pay for their freedom, make a contract with them, and give them some of the wealth that God has given you. Do not force your slave girls into prostitution, when they themselves wish to remain honourable, in your quest for short term gains of this world, although, if they are forced, God will be forgiving and merciful to them3″. This verse relates a lot to the career of Muhammad from when he grew up in Mecca. During this time, tribes had a lot of slaves working for them and they were usually mistreated.

Prostitution was a way tor young woman getting through lite as they could not get married. Muhammad sends a strong message in this text as he tries to preach to the owners of the slaves that it is against Gods teachings that this sort of behaviour should happen in this religion. This is a very smart message from Allah as it encourages people to marry and decreases the chances of trouble and violence by the Islamic followers. Muhammad is Allah’s messenger and it is shown throughout the passage that he wants to keep the community together by reinforcing the values rom the place (Mecca) they came from.

Muhammad was born and raised in Mecca but moved to Medina. This sura relates a lot to the career of Muhammad as he brought followers to Medina when he moved. These were the people who emigrated in God’s way. At that time there were a lot of tribal wars happening due to divisions imposed by leaders. Muhammad was part of the Banu Hashim tribe and according to (Cook, 2000) “the rival tribe Banu Abd Shams imposed a boycott which the pagans for some two or three years refused intermarriage or commercial dealings with the Banu

Hashim’s until such time as they came to their senses in the matter of Muhammad4″. However many members of these groups converted to Muhammad’s religion. It is important to note that in this sura, the message is very clear to Muhammad’s converts that there are laws to follow if you want to be part of the religion. I think it shows that Muhammad’s past is evident in this passage by his teaching. Another important piece of information highlighted throughout the Sura is to do with the one God phenomenon. It is repeated time and time throughout the Sura that “God is of all nowing and doing”.

This is important to the career of Muhammad as he had to preach this to his followers on a daily basis that there is one God and he is all knowing of your good and wrong doings. This small but clever piece of writing made sure that the message of this Sura was clearly shown, as Muhammad’s followers would realise that God can see all your wrong doings which would permit them from thinking of committing a wrong deed as writing at the end of the Sura, verse 24: 64, “God has full knowledge of everything5”.

It is very clear from above that the career of Muhammad is evident throughout the Sura by the teachings relating back to the prophets past. In this Sura, Muhammad is preaching about how to become a good Islamic follower and the punishments that will happen if followers lean away from the laws.

Explorers Vacation Essay

It is bordered on the north by the South China Sea, all of the east, the west and the south by Karakas, Malaysia which divides Brunet into n. O parts that are not connected. Brine’s total area is 5, 770 square kilometers, includes 33 islands. The topography of Brunet is that low-lying east high west, coastal plains in west and mountains on the mainland of east. The main rivers are Brunet River, Koala Beloit River (the longest river in Brunet, 32 kilometers), East River and Light Bloom River. The country’ s biggest bay-?Brunet Bay is most important foreign traffic crossroads.

Brunet is close to equator, the weather of it is tropical rainforest’s climate, hot and rainy around all year. Brunet is a rich country; its economical situation is quite developed. The lattice system of Brunet is absolute monarchy. The leaders at present are Hajji Hosannas Bolivia succeeded to the throne and AH-Muhammad Bilabial conferring the crown prince. Sultan Bolivia was crowned in 1 967 at the age of 22, succeeding his father, Sir Omar Ala Subduing, who had abdicated. During his reign, exploitation of the rich Serial oilfield had made the sultanate wealthy.

Brunet has one of the highest per capita incomes in Asia, and the sultan is believed to be one of the richest men in the world. In Gag. 1 998, Oxford-educated Prince AH-Muhammad Bilabial was inaugurated as heir to the monarchy (reference: www. Neoplasm. Com/country’/ brunet. HTML). Next, I think you should know something about Brunet culture. According to the relative research, the population of Brunet is more than 400,000 in 2012, of which the Malay (67 percent), Chinese (15 percent), and others RACES accounted for 18 percent.

The official language is Malay and the main religions are Islam, Buddhism and Taoism. In Brunet, the main holidays are Independent Day on January 1, 1984 and National Day on February 23, 1984 The flag of Brunet uses yellow as the background, combined with two parallelograms in black and white which are a national emblem on it. The national emblem is made up of things in red-?a small flag, a canopy, two hands, a palm tree, a pair of wings, a first quarter moon and an Arabic slogan writing “Always to serve in god ;s guidance”.

The flag shows deeply that Brunet regards Islam as the main religion. Brunet is also a traditional country with strong culture and custom. Once people have their faith, the custom of their own must have been fashioned out for a long time. The people in Brunet have some special custom and habits, such as, the local Malay people shake hands when back his hand to touch the chest usually in order to show insincerity; Pass before the identity of the people or the elders, sagging and stick on the body to handle, side light steps through, etc.

Therefore, people come to Brunet should pay attentions to the things following: when you want to visit the mosque, you should show your respect and cleaning by taking off your shoes; you should not become your legs or foot warped cross when you come on formal occasions; you also can not use your left hand but use your right hand when you stretch out your hand to take some things because left hand is considered unclean in Brunet; many Malay people do not want others specially the opposite sex to shake hands with them, so if they have held out their hands actively then you can shake hands as a token of friendship, you also can not touch their head by hand because this behavior means bringing disaster in Brunet.

Talking about the important cities in Brunet, I have to introduce you the capital city of Brunet-?Bands Series Began at first. Bands Series Began is located in northern Borneo, southwestern coastal plain of Brunet Bay, near by the Brunet River. A population of capital city is about 60000, preponderantly Malay and Chinese. So far there is the world s largest eatery’ village, so Bands Series Began has the laudatory title of “Oriental Venice”. Bands Series Began is formerly known as Brunet, renamed Current name in 1970. It is the cultural and educational center in Brunet now. With the rapid development of Brunet s oil economy, the capital city has become a modern economically developed city.

It is generally known that Brunet is famous for its natural beauty and magnificent buildings. The political system of Brunet is absolute monarchy, in other words that the leaders of Brunet mean being the king and queen of Brunet. The king and queen must live in palace. So the leaders of Brunet live in the world’s largest palace-?Assistant Unruly Inman- There are more than 1 700 rooms in Assistant Unruly Inman which is a place for holding the state dinners. If you want to visit the palace, you should come here on Brine’s National Day (February 23) or at the end of the Ramadan before the Did. You can also catch this opportunity to line up going into the palace to shake hands with Sudan.
