In the reading assignments and lectures, we have discussed the importance of educational philosophy in relationship to curriculum theory and design.
In this assignment you are to discuss the importance of educational philosophy. As noted in the lecture, our two textbooks take a somewhat different approach to educational philosophy. As you are discussing the impact of educational philosophy keep in mind that whatever name the philosophy has, it will impact the resulting curriculum. Keep in mind that this assignment is interested in that impact.
Tasks:
Discuss the relationship of educational philosophy to the curriculum that is produced.
Discuss the various philosophies, differences in those philosophies as related to education, and their impact on curriculum theory and design.
Share your reaction to the Orstein and Hunkins (2015) comment that “curriculum workers who lack a coherent philosophy can easily lack clarity and direction” (p. 29).
Write a 4–5-page paper in Microsoft Word format. Be sure to write from a scholarly perspective, using the current edition of APA for both style and citation. The paper should not exceed five pages and should include an additional page that lists your references. Remember to edit and proofread your document prior to submission.
Every module, your assignment should be submitted using proper APA format. A cover page will not be required. However, the first page of the assignment should include a title and proper headings for sections of your response. In-text citations should follow APA guidelines, and you should include a Reference list as a separate page with entries that match in-text citations. You may include an Appendix if you have additional information (e.g., assessment instruments, tables/figures, other supporting documentation).
All written assignments and responses should follow APA rules for attributing sources.
