Palo Verde College Cancer and Living Forever Discussion
I’m studying for my Biology class and don’t understand how to answer this. Can you help me study?
DISCUSSION:CANCER AND LIVING FOREVER
It is known that normal cell have to go through the check points of their cell cycle before they commit to continuation and eventually, cell division. It is also known that cancer cell technically live forever (given that they have enough food supply and oxygen) as they can skip these checkpoints of the cell cycle and continue to the uncontrolled cell division.
Please explain the cellular mechanism on how these cancer cell live forever.
Hint: It involves telomerases and reading this article will help https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5614326/ (Links to an external site.)
