PSYC 300 UMUC Gender Influence on Response Time to Sensory Stimuli Research Paper
I’m working on a Psychology exercise and need support.
My For this assignment, you will participate in an online experiment on reaction time located within the “psychology learning tools”. Once you have completed the experiment you will need to analyze data (I will give you data) and write a lab report (7- 10 pages – this page count does not include the title page or references) in APA style consisting of the following sections:
- Title Page
- Abstract
- Introduction
- Method
- Results
- Discussion
- References
You will write the report as if you were the researcher conducting the experiment. You have some options in your research question for this project. The data you are given includes the gender and age of the participants as well as three columns of results data (from 3 tasks). If you have a particular interest and want to modify the data, you have that choice. We will talk about this in week 4. You should try to use as much of your data as possible. Do not discard data unless there is a really good reason to do so.
Careful attention must be paid to APA Style as it represents a significant portion of your grade for the paper and is an intended learning outcome for the course. At the end of the term you will submit your completed paper to your assignment folder.
Remember that you were given additional details in the Hypothesis discussion.
For my hypothesis discussion I wrote
“For this assignment I will be investigating whether sex and age effect reaction times.
Hypothesis:
It is hypothesized that younger women will react faster than younger males, older females, and older males.
The goal of this research will be to determine how more quickly or more slowly each group of people react. Ultimately I will be dividing the males and females and then I will separate each age from another. Maybe group 17-23 23-28 and so on. Each of the participants will participate in various reaction time tests and their results will be displayed properly.”
My professor then responded with
Since you’ll need at least 50 subjects in each group, you might want to include two groups: “younger” and “older”. You can determine how to operationally define the age groups in the sample.
Also, please use at least 50 subjects in each group but you should aim to use as many participants as possible!
For the reaction time lab I am 22 year old female and got a reaction time of 0.272 seconds.
