For example, Christians celebrate Easter Sunday as the resurrection of Jesus Christ, three days after his death on the cross. The actual crucifixion is commemorated on Good Friday, the Friday just before Easter. Jesus paid the penalty for sin, which granted everyone who believed in him eternal life.
