The Catholic University of America The Claims of Socrates Discussion Post
I’m working on a Philosophy writing question and need a sample draft to help me study.
This is the essay question: Socrates is famous for two claims that seem at first to be contradictory: on the one hand, he claims to know nothing, but he also claims that the unexamined life is not worth living for man. How does Socrates himself understand those two claims, and why does Socrates think both of them are true? Why does his adherence to those two ideas lead to his trial and execution in Athens, and his rejection of exile and the possibility to escape?
