In the past four decades of reform and opening up, China’s education cause has made remarkable achievements, but the existing problems cannot be ignored.
Known only physical and mental health at the same time, students can truly accept education nourishes, with the development of the medical and health undertakings, the health protection of children’s body is reliable, but children’s psychological problems have become the research emphasis.
For instance, the psychological shadow caused by school bullying; Students who perform well expect to be praised; Left-behind children always want more care from their teachers etc.
“According to the survey, the number of children left behind in our country has reached 21 million, while its number is still rising in a continuous way” and “Left-behind children are lack of emotions, which contributes to the incomplete personality”. Therefore, it is essential and important to ask for help from educational psychology.
To begin with, teachers themselves should master some knowledge of educational psychology, such as some terminologies. Besides, teaching in accordance of one’s aptitude is a widely accepted teaching method which is also suitable for the educational psychology.
When teachers educate students, they should adopt different methods according to different situations of different students and different psychological states. What’s more, it is wise to apply educational psychology to teachers’ words and deeds to students which is beneficial to help them. Next, I will give examples to explain its application.
If there are students who are slow to respond, slow to learn and almost want to give up, at this moment, you should think that everyone has the hope to be recognized and affirmed, especially children, so you can say: good boy, I think what you have done is excellent, as the Confucius said “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop”; if a student is timid, he is afraid to try for fear of failure, encouragement is necessary, you should teach him how to be brave and optimistic.
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” said by Thomas Alva Edison; if a student has been performing well and always get good grades, You should not only tell him not to be proud, but also praise him appropriately and give him the motivation to keep moving forward.
Just as “Abraham Maslow theorized that all human beings have a keen desire to realize their fullest potentials to achieve the appropriate level of self-actualization.”. Also, the S-R model is useful too which works by giving stimulation and watching reactions carefully. By this way, we can know how to motivate your best response. Last but not least, teachers should care about students as much as they can and keep mild to them.
