Josephine Esther Mentzer was born on 2 july, 1908 in New york United states.she was cofounder of Estee lauder which is a cosmetic company. She is regarded as one of the influential business women that have ever lived on American soil. She came to first known about the marketing lessons in store of her father which was a hardware store. Here she learned perfectionism and about the quality products that drew her attention towards fashion and beauty at such a tender age.From her uncle who was a skin specialist she learnt the secrets of making lotions and face creams.later on she was married to joseph lauter whom she later divorced and remarried. They founded the Estee lauder. Inc. together. At first they mostly focused on skin treatments. Their marketing strategy was unique. They used to spend money on the samples which they gave away at fashion shows and this unique advertising strategy was a success. Their success rate can be estimated by following data. In 1958 their company employed 5 people and had sales of about 850,000 dollar which rose to 1000 people and 100,000,000 in sales by 1973.
