‘Rashomon’ directed by Kurosawa is considered one of the most highly ranked foreign films. This film was made in the early 50’s and was one of the first films to introduce the element of flashbacks. The film is entirely based on the concept of flashback with 3 witnesses; all giving their accounts on the murder that had taken place. All 3 take the blame upon them and confess to have been the culprits. There is a build up of confusion at this point and constant questions are raised as to who is the real culprit?

And who has wronged whom? Rashomon’ portrays flashbacks unlike any other, and explains how flashbacks are about both the truth and the false. The truth is presented through the events the witnesses think took place or experienced. The false aspect however, comes in as Kurosawa explains how human beings are wired in a way that they can never tell stories involving them without using manipulation. The other thing that is absolutely hard to miss is the phenomenal skill of the actors in the film.

For someone who is alien to the language of the film, it usually becomes ard to understand what is really going on, however in ‘Rashomon’, despite it being in Japanese and the subtitles being off, it is relatively easy to understand what is going on because of the exaggerated acting of the actors. The acting is so expressive and it may not necessarily explain every detail of the plot, but one can say that language is no longer a great barrier. Also, the film was more or less silent and based on the actions and emotions rather than the dialogues.

This is similar to a silent film, and for this reason it is easier for an alien viewer to comprehend too. The setting also plays an extremely important role in portraying the behavior of the characters and to get a better understanding of the plot! In my opinion there are two distinct settings, that of the wilderness and that of the temple. There is a clear difference in the behavior of the characters in the wilderness and that in the temple. I find that since the rape and the murder both take place in the forest too, it throws light on the fact that the behavior in the wilderness is not controlled, and rather savage.

Whereas the behavior in the temple is more composed and sane. This leads me to my next point, which is that often our surrounding has a great impact on us and almost has a direct effect on our environment. The behavior of the two men fghting in the forest reminded me of savages. It was as though all their emotions and feelings had touched the surface and they were no longer in any state to behave in a composed manner. This is very similar to another film I had watched, called “Heart of darkness” by Joseph Conrad. Just like in that film, ‘Rashomon’ too, reveals layers of human behavior.

There are also humorous moments intertwined in the film to break the serious mood, almost acting like a comic relief. The entire film is shot in black and white, which serves as a gloomy atmosphere, but also highlights the darkness of the events that take place in the movie. The director nas paid attention to every small detail in movie, be it the setting, the use of dialogues, the importance of the seasons etc. For instance, the movie opens with the scene of heavy rainfall; this may or may not be foreboding and suggestive of the darkness of the events that may take place.

Lili Rose did not conceal the truth from the society instead she amend the mistake. Her ethical nature and loyality to truth made her different from her family . She decides to live a guilt free life. She was not sorry about anything she did and was determined that if it again ahppens to her she would do it again. Lili betrayed her family by revealing the secretof the involvement of her brothers in the murder. She confessed by stating,”I said Mom? It was Leo and Mario.

I saw them with the baseball bat. They were the ones”. Her mother reacted furiously after listening this which indicates that her anger was releasing in physical way. Lili provided justice to Jadro Filer who was innocent. She gave justice to his family by confessing the truth beside the loyality of her family. Lili’s father was assuaging his own guilt by supporting Jadro Filer’s family financially. Lili was against this and thought that life cannot be retained by money. lili’s parents try to protect leo and mario from the crime. lili followed her inner consciousness and told the truth which left her alone the wholelife.

Lili Rose’s ”love”towards her brothers changes into”hate” when she realizes the horrible nature of her brothers . This illustrates in the story when Lili states ”Only years later would I wonder what leo and mario had done to me if they’d guessed all that i knew. ” lili feels that it is her personal responsibility to tell the truth about their crime as she did not want to carry this guilt her whole life. Hence,Lili Rose followed her consciousness rather than her family and supported the truth . she made the right choice which however changed her life forever. 1. Set your own path.

There are certain lessons to be learned through education, reading, and consultation with mentors that will help shape and guide your decision making when it comes to your company’s direction and strategy. However, you should never follow someone else’s model or fully implement another’s strategy — it won’t work! Why? Because your situation is different, your product(s) or service(s) are different, your talent and resources are different, and the experience and positioning of your company in the market are inherently different.

Some entrepreneurs have that sales mentality and they can both push and sell their service or product while also delivering it. However, some don’t like sales and are uncomfortable doing it. In my first business, we had a very talented team, and we did our best to push our service, but we ultimately failed. Even if you possess the skill to sell, when scaling your business, it becomes too cumbersome to take on the dual roles of both innovator and communicator. Clients were tough to come by and it was a struggle. Now, with my current organization, , we have strong sales leadership, and it is such a relief.

There is no doubt you should have processes in place, but keep them informal. The goal with any process is for people to be following it and if everyone on your team is, what is the reason to document it?

Also, the problem with documenting processes and procedures is that it stifles your ability to pivot and change quickly, which is the biggest advantage you have over larger competitors. Stay flexible and nimble and don’t add any gratuitous steps to shifting your business to gain competitive advantages.

Questions run In circles Inside our minds. We search and search for the truth. We keep on trying to unravel mysteries.

However, there are so many locks and not enough keys. In addition, a question just leads to another question. As you can see, to seek for the truth is to reach the exit of a labyrinth. It may be confusing and difficult. Surely, you will always go around In circles. However, when one incessantly focuses and have a sturdy faith, only then he could reach the end of his street and consequently sink in his mind nothing but the truth. Theology helps us find reasons for the truth we believe In. It guides us to know the answers for our questions with confidence yet with modesty.

The Harsh Truth in the Filipino Curriculum In the Filipino society today I cannot help but notice that when it comes to intellectual stuff the English language is more commonly used than the native language. James Syrians one of the students of Atone noticed this and he even made an article about it which enraged many people. In my opinion James Garrison’s Article has a point, it’s looks negative at first but it actually has a good meaning. But he problem is that most Filipinos are too stubborn to accept the truth.

When he said that the Filipino language is commonly used in the streets I agree because you wouldn’t use the English language in the local street stores or when dealing with local vendors because it would look awkward. One of the probable reasons why his article has received many negative criticisms is because in some parts of the article he used his own perspective based on the environment he grew up in especially hen he said that the Filipino language is not used on intellectual.

But ironically the school Atone(his school) uses the Filipino language for intellectual arguments. Since James Garrison’s articles presents the problem that the Filipino language has today it would be good if the Depend would check this article and come up with something to help flourish the Filipino Language. I would suggest that they modify the curriculum wherein they would use the Filipino language in teaching some major objects like Math and Science during grade 1-6 so that the students would understand it better.

Because during those years the students haven’t even mastered their mother tongue and it would be better to let them learn it well first before teaching them the English language. The article of James Syrians may look very offensive for a Filipino at first but if we read between the lines we can learn a thing or two about the state of the Filipino language in the current curriculum.
