UC Berkeley Research Conducted by Craig and Richeson Discussion
I’m trying to learn for my Writing class and I’m stuck. Can you help?
Journal Prompt 2
In this journal response, I’d like you to summarize how the excerpt you read from Craig & Richeson (2014) relate to findings presented in the Pew Research Center report on Race in America. What are some core take-home points you gleaned from the data in the data report and how does the literature review from Craig & Richeson help explain some of the findings?
Tips
- The Pew Research Center report points to lots of statistics and data points. The prompt is not asking for you to re-state the data points. Rather, it’s asking you to think about the core message behind the data points. Read the report first, and then reflect on what’s the story that the data points tell about race in America?
- When reading the Craig & Richeson piece, think about what question the researchers are trying to answer. Think about what they find and how that might explain some of the attitudes presented in the Pew Research Center report. Going through this thought exercise will help you in answering the question.
Discussion
Prompt
Please reflect on the assigned readings this week. How do you see race relations today, and what do you think can help us achieve better race relations in this country? How do you see the future of race relations?

- Post 1 should respond to the prompt above and should be posted by Thursday, October 15 @ 11:59 PM
