What is the Purpose of the Declaration of Independence

The purpose of the Declaration of Independence was to bring forth reasons for America’s need to separate from Great Britain and to entice hesitant colonist to unite with them and no longer be ruled by Great Britain. They also wanted to protect our human rights by letting the people choose how their government functions.
The ethos of the document is where the writers show that they are honorable men and that the world needs to know the reasons behind their movement for wanting to become free and independent states.
And also to show that they were a nation under a tyranny government. Thomas Jefferson showed evidence that the British government was unfair and wronged the people by showing a large list of complaints against the King, Such as the not allowing Governors to pass laws, inflicting taxes without their permission, and housing troops in colonial private property. He also states that the king has neglected, restricted, and deprived the colonies of their rights. And despite their many pleas to rectify the Kings wrongdoings their pleas were merely answered with repeated abuse. That let them know that it was definitely time to separate.

The pathos of the document is where Thomas Jefferson describes our basic human rights. Which is life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? The declaration of Independence shows discontent with the King and putting into words that changes must transpire because no man is above the next and ALL were created equal.
The logos of the document tell the people why the Declaration of Independence is needed and why the government requires conditions. Thomas Jefferson wanted the people to know that we were all created equal and that God gave us all rights that cannot be taken away from us and that the Declaration of Independence would protect those rights. And when the government is not adhering to the laws or if the laws aren’t fair, then the people have the right to get rid of them and initiate new ones.
The Declaration of Independence was created to explain and give reasons why it was necessary for America to separate from Great Britain and also to tug at Americans emotions through Thomas Jefferson’s thorough use of parallelism, pathos, ethos, and logos. It was an incredibly effective work, as history would bear witness too
