There are 24 hours in a day and sometimes it is hard to squeeze some things that are important into your day like family or your hobbies. You either end up working too late and get tired and have to sleep early to be up for work early in the morning again. We all have the same 24 hours but spend it differently because some of us may be self-employed and work on our own schedule. But he most use work a strict work schedule that lasts forever as long as we are at the job. Working and being employed keeps food on our tables and keeps a roof above us. But working consistently with a schedule that doesn’t work with you could be very depressing.

That is why flexible work schedules should be an option for employees, it would make it much easier to balance throughout personal life. Everyone usually heads to work early in the morning between 6 and 9 am, which means there is a lot of traffic and makes commute pretty long. Over a period of time the commute adds up, people want to save money on gas. If the employee got to start work probably at about 11 am the commute wouldn’t be too bad, and they’d be much more energized. The issue Work-life Balance and Flexible Work Schedules is significant to management because it’d reduce the employer/company turnover rate, better relationship with the employee, less tardiness of employees and extended hours of operations. The management of the company and the employees will cooperate and communicate more.

Parents with children can work different shifts while on takes care of the children to save money on childcare, since the two incomes are needed in the household. Also my wife is a full time student and part time employee so it is very complicated when we are matching our schedule for registering classes, baby sitting and work. Mostly, we end up one of us has to sacrifice and drop some of his/her classes or work over the night as to take care of our kids because we don’t have enough money to pay daycare.

According to the Economic Policy Institute research , Minnesota is on of the highest child care cost in united state, and raising children it needs more dedication and commitment. Also, American parents spent an average of $233,610 per child from birth up to 17 years, and not including tuition fees.“Washington, D.C., is the most expensive, with annual child care costing $22,631, according to the latest report from think tank Economic Policy Institute. After the capital, the most expensive states (in descending order) are Massachusetts ($17,062), Minnesota ($14,366), New York ($14,144) and Maryland ($13,932).” Digging different researchers I found out that most American parents don’t want to get kids unless they are fully prepared financially and mentality while some of them prefer to be without children for the rest of their life because it is a dedication and big commitment step.

The best solution or action to take would be to expand hours of operations so that some people can come in late and work late. Like my job is to drive from point A to B, we do have two part time choices weekday and weekend. For the weekdays, I work 30 hrs every week monday through friday which means six hours every day. That six hours has two splits, the first shift is between 6:00 am to 9:00 am (rush hours when the people are going to work) and the second piece is 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm ( rush hours when the people are going back to home). For the weekend, I work 30 hrs friday through saturday and each day is 10 hrs. For that flexibility helped me to march my work, family and study. If my company could not provide me that chance I would not be where I am today because some jobs are limited their flexibility and their turnover are more. Work flexibility is apart of the quality management and it gives an opportunities and solutions both employer and employee.

For the employer it saves cost, creates high productivity, leads high creativity and attracting talent people. The companies will not spend a lot of money their office equipments also employees can start and finish earlier than the normal office hours because they are spending their hours of the transportation to the work. ” If an employee has the ability to work remotely from home, they save time on commute, meaning they may be inclined to start work earlier and finish later. Nearly two-thirds (60 percent) of HR directors have seen an increase in productivity, further demonstrating the business benefits of flexible work arrangements.” While employees prefer flexible hours as to work in freedom and spend more time with their families without sitting alone in a room for couple hours and feeling pouring.

This research will help me in my career because after completing my degree I will be in the hunt for a flexible job that will work with my busy family schedule. As of right now my career/job works perfectly with everything I am fumbling like going to school full time and working part time as well. My job right now works very well with me, I work 3 days a week reaching almost 40 hours within just those while some people struggle and do it in 5 days. I am truly blessed to have this opportunity, I wouldn’t even be able to imagine how stressful my life would be working more than that. In end adaptable work routines result in inspiration giving the representatives a period they’re best to work and an advantage for the business of additionally being finished. It would spare a few families cash from spending such a great amount on childcare. Leaving somewhat later would help keep away from activity and making the drive a lot less demanding.

Coming in different shifts would enable a few people to accomplish more work and be much increasingly gainful. It would help businesses since representatives would come to work with vitality and will achieve more they would likewise like work more. Ultimately the importance of this subject in the executives is results in more achievements at the working environment and is an advantage for both the worker and boss.

My plan is to graduate West Texas A&M University in May of 2020, with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (BBA) in Finance. Right now, I am employed at First Capital Bank of Texas in Amarillo, where I hold a full-time position as a teller. Therefore, I want to pursue the banking industry when I graduate college. The first position that is best for starting out is a Personal Banker. A Personal Banker (PB) makes approximately $37,000 to $50,000 a year. The qualifications needed to become a PB is preferably a bachelor’s in business. However, in some cases, experience in retail banking can overlook a business degree.

PB’s work in retail banking, where they assist customers with needs that involve opening checking or savings accounts, investing in certificates of deposits (CDs), mortgage and auto loans, and they assist customers with saving for retirement or saving for their kid’s college. Although PB’s do not make as much as commercial bankers, the hours and flexible schedule (banker’s hours) make the work-life balance much easier. Personal banking is a suitable career for those who love building relationships with people and the community with a solid income, or for those who are starting out in the banking industry (DePersio, 2018 ). The next position in banking would be a Credit Analyst position. The annual salary for this position is approximately $34,089 to $67,958. A Credit Analyst is responsible for gathering and analyzing financial data about clients, their paying habits, earning and saving habits, and some issue credit cards to clients.

Credit Analysts who work at bank are responsible for gathering financial statements, credit reports, and evaluate data to ensure the lender that a customer is qualified for a loan. The minimum educational requirement is a bachelor’s degree in either finance or accounting, because it eposes a student to subjects like ratios, economics, accounting, and finance. To be a successful Credit Analyst, knowledge of financial software is crucial. An analyst must have experience with financial software and must be comfortable with programs such as Excel and Word (Morah, 2018). The third and higher positions in banking is a Commercial Lender. A Commercial Lender creates sales and growth to a financial institution by granting loans to commercial customers.

A lender also follows leads, makes the ultimate decision on whether a customer will receive a loan, present banking products and services to customers, and researches ways to obtain more customers. A lender’s salary ranges from $83,500 to $120,000 per year. The requirements are much like a Credit Analyst which is a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics. A master’s degree is not required, but it is most definitely preferred along with years of banking experience. Also, much like a Credit Analyst, lenders must have adequate knowledge of financial software that crunches numbers, gathers financial data, and makes financial reports (PayScale, 2019).

I had the opportunity to sit down and interview Toneisha, my coworker who is the Personal Banker at the branch I work at. Her job consists of opening checking and savings accounts for personal and business customers, processing consumer loans, open IRA/401 K accounts, she provides maintenance on accounts, and makes customers new debit cards when needed. Toneisha is involved with community outreach and is involved with business networking events.

A typical day for her includes opening a least two to four accounts a day, daily meetings, banker’s calls, and she must complete 76 online training sessions each year for her position. She uses several different types of banking software such as Fiserv, BPM for opening new accounts, CRIF for processing loans, Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets for processing data, and TRISM for making debit cards. Lastly, Toneisha would like to expand her knowledge in Excel, by expanding her knowledge with the financial formula’s that Excel has to offer. Expanding her knowledge in this software will allow her to enter in customer data accurately and efficiently.

Throughout the last couple of years of college, I have struggled with finding the career that will best suit me and my needs. During my freshman year of college my major was nursing, and I was determined to become a pediatric nurse. However, I started nursing school at a Community College in my hometown and I found that it was not for me. At the time, I was employed at a healthcare office, where I oversaw billing and accounts for our patients. I decided that accounting and finance was the path that I needed to pursue. I was offered an opportunity to move to Amarillo, where I then found my current teller position at a very successful bank.

I transferred to WT and decided that banking is the best route for me. After researching and learning about the three different career options that banking has to offer, the one that has sparked my interest is the Credit Analyst position. To prepare for this position, I have decided to job shadow the Credit Analyst that works at my branch. Getting to work hands on with a Credit Analyst will help me prepare, and it will give me adequate training for when I am ready to move up into this position. Taking on an internship or any opportunities that the bank has to offer will only benefit me in the long run, and it will help get my foot in the door for a very successful career path. I am very fortunate that I have been granted the opportunity to work at a place that has many different opportunities and that has allowed me to gain hands on experience over the past year.

CHAPTER 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING Introduction Education in the largest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another. Education is universally recognized as a fundamental building block for human development and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty, and is a powerful driver for development of individuals and society—improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED 1995) states that higher education is primarily bridge between the world of learning and the world of work industrialization has increased the demand for more differentiated skills. The Laguna State Polytechnic University System has been founded to help each student to develop into a total person: who is well equipped with knowledge and skills; one who fits the modern world of technologies; and one who is ready and capable to meet the challenges of life.

A bachelor’s of science degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) will provide with all the skills needed to success in a wide variety of hospitality management careers. The program allows the students to understand the principles involved in leading a successful hospitality organization. At the same time, they will have the opportunity to practice these principles in applied courses and through an internship. It can individualize the degree program to fit the career field that most interested one.

The career hotel and restaurant management concept deal with the preparation for gainful and successful and satisfying life and equip them with knowledge and social relations as well as manipulative skills in developing impotent attitudes and values in work is the aim of hotel and restaurant management course in general. Employment is a contract between two parties, one being the employer and the other being the employee.

An employee may be defined as: “A person in the service of another under any contract of hire, express or implied, oral or written, where the employer has the power or right to control and direct the employee in the material details of how the work is to be performed. ” Black’s Law Dictionary Working students can be categorized into two groups: those who primarily identify themselves as students but who work in order to pay the bills and those who are first and foremost workers who also take some college classes.

Almost two-thirds of undergraduates who work consider themselves “students who work”; the other third consider themselves “workers who study. “CHED said working students today are mostly into food service, entertainment and sales, apart from their usual stints as library and research assistants. CHED advised working students to get jobs that are not that demanding and that are more closely related to their courses. Working students are ubiquitous in higher education.

Students are more likely to work than they are to live on campus, to study full time, to attend a four-year college or university, or to apply for or receive financial aid. Students work regardless of the type of institution they attend, their age or family responsibilities, or even their family income or educational and living expenses. Working while enrolled is perhaps the single most common major activity among in all diverse undergraduate population.

Most of the remaining two-thirds of working students state that their primary reason for working is to pay tuition, fees, and living expenses, with upper-income students more likely to work in order to earn spending money or gain job experience. It is difficult to understand the role that work may play in helping dependent students pay for college because income and educational expenses do not appear to significantly influence the likelihood that students will work, the amount that they work, or the amount that they earn.
