You are on the budget committee for the formal Valentine’s Day Ball at your university. The ball includes dinner and dancing. Your committee prepared a tentative budget outlining income and expenses. The primary sources of income are contributions from student organizations and ticket prices. Expenses include the actual cost of the dinner, facilities, parking, and other costs at a luxurious hotel in the city. Your goal is to balance the income and expenses, decide on the most appropriate ticket price per student, and ensure your budget falls within the limitations you must work with. This exercise follows the same set of skills as used in Hands-On Exercise 2 in the chapter. Refer to Figure 40 as you complete this exercise.
a. Open e10p2dance, and then save it as e10p2dance_LastnameFirstname.
b. Click the File tab, click Options, select the text in the User name box, type your name, and then click OK.
c. Look at the Quick Access Toolbar to see if it contains the Compare and Merge Workbooks command. If so, continue with step
d. If not, click Customize Quick Access Toolbar on the right side of the Quick Access Toolbar, and then select More Commands. Then, do the following in the Excel Options dialog box:
• Click the Choose commands from arrow, and then select Commands Not in the Ribbon.
• Scroll through the list, select Compare and Merge Workbooks, and then click Add.
• Click OK. d. Make the following changes:
• Select and delete rows 11:16.
• Click cell A13, right-click row 13, and then select Insert. Type Donations in cell A13 and 1000 in cell B13. Use Format Painter to copy the formats from cell B19 to cell B13.
• Type 1500 in cell B18 and 10000 in cell B19.
• Type =B4*B8 in cell B25. Save the workbook.
e. Click Compare and Merge Workbooks on the Quick Access Toolbar, select e10p2anita, and then click OK.
f. Click Track Changes in the Changes group, select Highlight Changes, deselect the When check box, click the List changes on a new sheet check box, and then click OK.
g. Start Word, click the Insert tab, click Screenshot, click the Microsoft Excel – e10p2dance_ LastnameFirstname window in the gallery, save the document as e10p2history_LastnameFirstname, insert a footer with your name on the left side and the file name field on the right side, save the document, and then exit Word.
h. Click the Budget worksheet tab, click Track Changes in the Changes group, select Accept/Reject Changes, and then click OK.
i. Click Accept for all of your changes. When prompted to select a value for cell B18, click $500.00 by Anita, and then click Accept.
j. Click Accept for Anita’s change of cell B4 to 380, and then click Accept on Anita’s change of cell B8 to $15.
k. Click Reject for Anita’s change to delete row 19, click Accept on her change of cell B22 to $2,575, and then click Reject on her change for cell A23 to Live Band.
l. Click Share Workbook in the Changes group, deselect the check box, and then click OK. Click Yes.
m. Click cell C29, click New Comment in the Comments group, and then type The balance should be $0 or greater.
n. Create a footer with your name on the left side, the sheet name code in the center, and the file name code on the right side.
o. Click Customize Quick Access Toolbar, select More Commands, select Compare and Merge Workbooks in the Customize Quick Access Toolbar list, click Remove, and then click OK.
p. Save and close the workbook, and then submit based on your instructor’s directions.
