He does not do break even analysis at the moment but he intends to do so soon. The reason is that demand is constantly varying and as a result expenditure rises and falls. When I asked Mr Kuldip about the future prospects of using business methods he replied by saying “Once we have expanded I will need to keep a close eye on a number of things. So I will end up doing cash flow forecasting for the future and break even analysis”. Overall, Kuldip only uses monthly cash flows but in the future he intends to make the cash flow more complex by trying to predict future trends. Also, he intends to do break even analysis on each of his products.

This graph shows that, from sample of customers, all of them have some sort of satisfaction with the goods supplied by MQL. There was not one person that said that they were unsatisfied. However, MQL should try and get more people ‘very satisfied’ because if they let standards slip then that will leave many people ‘unsatisfied’. On the whole this graph shows some good reading for MQL. In the future they must try and improve this further and further. If this graph shows a good reflection of all customers then the future looks good. The reason for this is because satisfaction of goods leads to brand loyalty and pretty soon MQL will have a lot of loyalty through its customers.

This graph also shows good reading for MQL because the delivery service seems to be doing alright. There is a high percentage of people who say that goods get delivered on time in most cases but this may be due to distance. For example, MQL has a few customers that are situated on the other side of Birmingham (near the airport). As a result, it is hard to get delivery times dead on perfect. On the good side at least these people are not complaining because if MQL expands then it would be difficult to deliver everything on time. Hence ‘in most cases’ is a good substitute.

This graph shows amazing results for Kuldip as every single person in the survey said that MQL was such a good supplier that they would definitely recommend them to others. Customers genuinely believe this because I told all the people I surveyed that they will remain anonymous- this means that they can be honest and not fear about people knowing what they said. Hence this graph shows that the level that MQL is operating at is so high that they can look for a very successful future.

This graph is not very conclusive as to whether customers think MQL should expand or not because although approximately 64% of people think that they should expand, 36% of people have doubts. If I had just asked ‘Do you think they should expand?’ I would have expected virtually everyone to say yes. However, I deliberately said ‘…bearing in mind increased competition etc.?’ Due to that, people started thinking about the implications of expansion. I believe that the results mean that the decision should be well thought through by Kuldip. This question was asked for Kuldip to see whether or not customers think he should expand. It is now up to him.

This graph is a brilliant indication that the future of MQL is very bright. You can tell that MQL has a lot of loyalty from it’s customers and that would be increasing in the future. Everyone in the sample of customers said that if the service remained the same they would stay with MQL- remember, Kuldip wants to make the service better and better so these people and others will be customers of MQL for may years to come. These customers will act as marketing weapons for MQL in the future as they will advertise for them for free through word of mouth. Overall the future is looking good for MQL and it seems the business is heading in the right direction.

In addition to, the movie Cataract is similar to “Brave New World”. Humans predict other humans lifestyle by making tests and observations to determine where they are placed. This world seeks stability in each society but it most likely doesn’t work on everyone. Having a family Is not allowed to be applied In he future.

Therefore, the people are separated on what defines them Like being a Delta or an upsilon. In which why the character Bernard is not happy with the order 1 OFF such as having a family. All in all, both of the Cataract and “Brave New World” are engaging and interesting. I would recommend reading “Brave New World” first and then watching Cataract because you can get an older point of view of the future and a more modern point of view. Science Fiction Genre And What It Is

Introduction This is a speech about science fiction. Today I will be talking about two science fiction texts, Avatar and Transformers. I will also be talking about the science fiction genre and what it is. Science Fiction Science fiction is made up of real life science technology, mixed with the world of fiction and make believe. By doing this I feel it brings more excitement to the novel or movie, making it easier to read, or watch, and relate to.

We all love the world of make believe, as this allows us to believe we can be or do anything we wish even though we know it is not physically possible in the real world, this making for a more thrilling and exciting story, as opposed to when we have a science documentary which, yes, are very factual and interesting but have no thrilling highs and lows. I believe in some cases of science fiction novels or movies the author truly feels that the technology they have written about and could really end up actually happening in the near or later future.

My first example of science fiction is one of my favourites, Transformers This story starts when a young teenager named Sam purchases a car that turns out to be an Autobot called Bumblebee, which he regards as evil at first. When Bumblebee (in car mode) returns the following day, Sam flees, believing the car is stalking him. Then the war begins between the Autobots and the Decepticons, as they battle for the Universe. The movie was set in the near future. The characters weakness is that he is fighting robots.

In the end the humans win as they have a good team of robots on their side (the Autobots). The Decepticons lose the fight due to a bit of luck on the Autobots side and humans’ quick reflex action to his instincts. My second science fiction favourite is Avatar This story begins where scientists use Military-human hybrid bodies called Avatars that are operated via mental link by genetically matched humans. Jake Sully, paraplegic former Marine, replaces his twin brother, a scientist trained as an avatar operator who was murdered in a robbery. Dr.

Grace Augustine, head of the Avatar Program, considers Sully an inadequate replacement and assigns him as a bodyguard. The film was set in the near future. Neytiri is the daughter of the Omaticaya leader, the Na’vi clan, who is attracted to Jake because of his bravery while being frustrated with him for what she sees as his ignorance and stupidity. The characters weaknesses are that they are fighting huge machines. The Military lost because they relied on mere brute force and advanced technology, rather than actual intelligence and planning.

This helped the Na’vi clan win as they had the familiarity of their own land to their advantage and had real intelligence and organisation in order to win Conclusion I feel in my first choice of Transformers that it has a lot to do with the past technology of machinery and how far this technology has come in the present and how much it will change again in the near future. It also gives us an insight on what may or may not happen between the robots (machinery) and the human race. I loved the excitement of this movie, it is truly action packed but I also feel it is way more fiction than reality of science.

Where a young human boy could defeat such futuristic machines (I don’t think so) but very exciting stuff! My second choice I feel is more realistic to how science and technology will advance in the future. It is not unrealistic to think there are other species than humans in our universe, or other beautiful planets like earth in our solar system. To think that we could replicate these other forms of life is not so fictitious either as our scientists are already delving in cloning humans.

So who knows how much more advanced that will be in the future? It is also felt already that other species in our Universe are more advanced in technology than us, so this is not so hard to believe. I truly hope there are other life forms in our universe and that in the future we do meet them and hopefully we can live together and progress together unlike some of the movie Avatar where it creates war, which is not so unfamiliar or fictional in our world today either. However, it is notable that the conclusion that has been drawn by the analysts in this paper may not be entirely up to the mark. Although the inferences have been drawn from pure statistics, it is not without a grain of salt that these inferences should be adopted. Further, the process of approval of an expungement by the arbitrators is not an easy task since the process has set standards of an expungement being granted to a broker who has committed an act that counts as financial misconduct.

No expungement is granted unless those standards are fulfilled, and further reforms are also suggested to be implemented in order to make the expungement process stricter than it earlier was. It also forces the broker to incur high costs when he/she is seeking expungement relief, and that the expungement will not be granted until and unless the panel has been satisfied that the concerned broker deserves the order of expungement to be passed.

So the most important question for every youngster is which career he or she wants to do with his or her life. It is important because if our choices are wrong, we will waste our money, our time, and maybe our mental and physical health.

However, we might not know if the path we chose will be the correct one until later in life. Right now I am confident in my decision of becoming a pharmacist for the three reasons below. First and foremost, we must have a passion for and an interest in our career because we will work in our field every day. In this case, as a pharmacist, we must have a strong interest in health care, science and especially chemistry (Bolster, Brynildssen, Cohen, and co-writers 676). My interest in chemistry began when I was in tenth grade, the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and my school held a Chemistry Exam for all of students in my grade.

My classmates and I studied and prepared a lot for this exam because we heard that the awards would be a scholarship to study abroad in Australia. However, when studying for the exam, I was actually interested in chemistry myself. So, although for this exam I only got the bronze medal but the knowledge that I gained from this experience was priceless. When I did the research for this exam, I realized that many discoveries in chemistry would be used in medicine to prevent or to cure human diseases. For example, I respected Marie Curie, the female scientist who discovered the element radium.

That element is used in X-Ray to diagnose diseases; in Radiotherapy, a treatment method using in Oncology; and in Radiopharmacy, “the use of radioactive drugs for diagnostic or therapeutic purpose” (Bolster, Brynildssen, Cohen, and co-writers 674). At that time I hoped that I would have many chances in the future to study more about chemistry and how it is applied in health care. In this Chemistry exam, I had a lab session so my friends and I had some hours to practice in lab with our instructor. I was excited with every lecture and lab session. I liked to practice in lab, and see the chemical reactions.

I had some memorable experience in chemistry lab, such as creating a small explosion when combining some chemicals together; and burning my hand when pouring a liquid too fast. My chemistry teacher said that if I liked to study chemistry and find information about this field then I would become a chemist or a pharmacist. “Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-2011 Edition, Pharmacist” indicated that compounding or mixing of chemical ingredients to form medications is a part of a pharmacist’s practice. This is another reason why pharmacist is a best choice for my future career.

Second, my future career choice is right because I realize that I have some qualifications that are suitable for a pharmacist. For example, from an experience of my childhood time, I knew that to become a pharmacist I must be a kind person. Furthermore, as any other health care career, I had to care for my patients as for members in my family, and to communicate well to interact with patients and co-workers. When I was six years old, I was weak and sick all the time. One time when I was hospitalized because of high fever and shortness of breath, and the medical staff in the Children Hospital influenced my dream career.

They were my nurse, my doctor and my pharmacist. They did their best to help me get better. They talked to me and my parents about my disease and how to cure it. They made me feel more confident in my recovery. I cannot forger my pharmacist. She talked to me like my mother: “Honey, try to take your pills and drink more milk. You will get better and become a beautiful girl. You must be strong to study well and help any kids like you right now. ” Since then, I have always thought about how and what I could do to help ill people.

When playing with my sibling and my friends, I liked to play a role as a doctor. Every time my parents were ill, I was worried. I wanted to study clearly every disease that my parents had and to take care of them more closely. Whenever my school planned any field trip to nursing home, I was always the first one to raise a hand up to participate. Last but not least, I know my choice for my future career is right because I have a role model who is a pharmacist. She is a successful woman in her career and in life and is respected by almost all of my neighbors.

She is Tran, a pharmacist and a professor of the College of Pharmacy in my city. I have known Mrs. Tran since I was a child, my mother used to take me to her pharmacy store together to buy medicine. One time, my father had an accident and suffered a severe back pain. This symptom became chronic and attacked my father when he worked long hours. I went to Mrs. Tran’s pharmacy with my father and I got information about a pharmacist’s job. She consulted my father how to use these drugs safely and effectively. Besides using drugs, she gave more advice and useful information to my father to relieve the pain.

She talked about the right working positions to avoid backache, and also exercises like swimming and riding bicycle would be helpful for back muscles to become stronger to prevent back pain. In addition, she said that some drugs might cause stomach discomfort and should be taken with full stomach. My father got better after a few weeks using these medicines and also took her advice on trying to do these exercises. He recovered almost totally so that my father and my family appreciated Mrs. Tran a lot. Furthermore, I knew that Mrs. Tran has helped many patients in my neighbor like my father.

She has held group education every weekend at our community center to provide information and free medicine for poor residents. She was not only my family pharmacist but also my older friend. When I had any questions about health or medicines, she always explained clearly by an easy way and showed me how and where to get information when she was as my age. Since then, I have respected her a lot, and promised myself to study hard to become a good pharmacist like her. As time went by, when I graduated high school and prepared to choose major in college, I met her and we discussed some points about career outlooks.

I was encouraged to get my dream career. Every career has its own obstacle but when I worked hard and attempt my dream career which could help people by myself, it would be worthy. Furthermore, “Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-2011 Edition, Pharmacist” showed that employment in my career was expected to increase faster than the average. All of these things made me decide more confidently. In conclusion, right now I am walking on my path to my future step by step and I am self-confident with my job because my awareness of my life goal. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and Bladerunner by Ridley Scott Comparison

It can be seen that both composers were heavily influenced by their own contexts as both texts present a fairly critical view of the society in which they were produced.

For example, the novel BNW was composed during a time of scientific and technological advancement, in a world where communist powers were on the rise, and with the influence of growing trends in industrialization and consumerism, Huxley was concerned with his society’s lack of morals and exploitation of nature during the twenties. By translating his fears into a satiric critique of his 1920’s society, Huxley created a dystopian portrait of society in the future that was superficially a perfect world. This was his attempt to show his audience (the intellectuals of his time) his fears of the present, while simultaneously providing a warning of what the future may bring.

In effect, Huxley deliberately endowed the “ideal” futuristic society with features likely to alienate his audience, making the “Brave New World” an unsettling, sinister place where nature has been marginalized and natural rhythms such as child birth have been replaced with substitutes and surrogates. The setting of the novel immediately accentuates the harsh reality of the ‘world state’ in the opening paragraphs when the reader is confronted with a ‘squat grey building’ where the atmosphere is as ‘cold for all the summer beyond its panes’, emphasizing the coldness, paleness and clinical nature of the Central London Hatchery and Conditioning Centre, and allowing Huxley to successfully portray a world in which science has superseded nature.

Secondly, BR was created in the 1980’s, a time where technological advances had become more immediate in every day life, and people were becoming more aware of environmental degradation as a result of human destruction, consequently leading to the general fear that technology was taking over to the detriment of humanity.

These issues were of great concern to Ridley Scott, and thus through the medium of film, he portrays a post- modern apocalyptic, dystopian world, in which ecological systems have been replaced by technological constructs, and the future is depicted as a chaotic place with a distinct lack of the natural world and its humane values. His projection was an attempt to warn his society that if certain trends were to continue, humans have the potential to destroy what they value most, being humanity and the natural world.

Dramatized by Scott in the opening scene, the wide-angled camera shot gives a birds eye vantage of what Earth has become in the future; a vast industrial metropolis, studded with huge chimney like exhaust outlets from which fireballs explode, as if to resemble in a way “hell on Earth”. Furthermore, the city’s streets are devoid of natural elements such as sunlight due to pollution, and in Gaf’s words ‘the little people’, are basked in the flickering of neon lights, as huge neon advertisements dominate the city landscape.

The urban jungle of Los Angeles 2019 combined with the integration of other techniques and genres such as film noir and science fiction enables Scott to effectively create a world of environmental degradation and in turn warn people that the apocalyptic world depicted may not be far from reality in the near future if trends continue.

Both texts share the same tragic flaw, being humanities detachment from the natural world. Thus both seek to demonstrate the effects scientific and technological advancement may have on the natural world and its rhythms in the future.

In order to demonstrate the extent to which nature has been superseded by science in BNW, Huxley overwhelms the reader with scientific processes and names, communicated through the use of complex, pseudo-scientific jargon such as the ‘bokanovsky’s Process, or ‘Podsnap’s Technique, giving the processes in the Brave New World an authentic ring. The application of science to replace natural rhythms such as childbirth

The distinct lack of the nature in the film BR is demonstrated through the absence of real animals in the film due to their rarity and price, with artificial animals taking their place eg. Zhora’s snake. Also quite ironically the only element of plant life that appears in the film is a small, stunted bonsai, symbolizing the extent to which nature has been stunted by technology. Finally, the elusiveness of night and day displays the disruption technology has made to the world’s natural rhythms, demonstrated by Scott through the use of film noir to create a smoky, hazy atmosphere irrespective of the time of day throughout the entirety of the film.

The characters in each text are also used to emphasize the composer’s concepts. For example It can be seen that “Humans”, as depicted in BNW and BR are often lacking the qualities that seem fundamental to being human, and thus provoke the responder to question what it really means to be “human”.
